Er, well, it's unlikely you'll get a response, but I will forward questions.

Hi i wanted to ask Mr. Miles where he gets his ideas from. I read Interferance one and two. The first time i read them i thought, "Thats a load of bollocks."
Then i read them again and saw they were actually highly ambitious. And i also wanted to ask, how you get the patience to write a novel because i want to write one but cant find the patience and end up stopping quater of the way (if that) and starting something new. |

If I could, I'd like to ask to what extent he was influenced by the rhetoric and style of the Rebel Art Workshop and Vorticism, the extremely short-lived
avant-garde artistic movement that sprang up around Wyndham Lewis and Ezra Pound in 1914 as a reaction against Omega Workshops (that really was there name,
honestly!) and the Bloomsbury Group? In particular, the exotically aggressive tone of BLAST 1 and the Vorticist Manifesto. The more I think about it,
the more parallels I see.
That is, if this is still going/plausible/this forum isn't entirely undead and I'm shouting into the wind? (Some general links for those unaware of the subject: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vorticism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wyndham_Lewis ) |

foremostofthewesterners wrote:Well, if your question's getting an answer, I'm afraid it won't be from me. However, I'm a big fan of the Vorticists and that whole era (Wadsworth, Lewis and Nevinson being my own favourites - although I don't suppose Nevinson was exactly a Vorticist) and I'm really intrigued to know what possible common themes you can identify linking them with LM. I must admit I don't really see any myself, at least not beyond a generally subversive spirit, although that can be found in many historical art or cultural movements. Welcome to the board by the way. It hasn't always been this quiet. It seems to go through phases. I've been having a complicated (and generally shitty) personal life so haven't been posting much, though thankfully I've managed to sort everything out so I should be around a bit more from now on. By the way - anyone know why my last post on this thread seems to be blank??? More of my usual bullshit available at these locations: |
