Anyone else watched the latest series of Torchwood and speculate/imagine that <spoilers for the series and final episode>
The families are exceptionally good at hiding themselves and running things behind the scenes and the families (or what we’ve seen of them) seem to be run by a character called Mother Colasanto. The three families specialise in different areas, a bit like the wings of FP. The other family leader in Argentina claims they have access to 'infinite resources' (to heal someone shot) at one point and they hire an especially talented PR consultant whom they want to "write history for them" (though their plans come apart before we get to see what they intended exactly - maybe next season).
The plot revolves around making the whole of mankind immortal via an ancient buried otherworldly crack running all through the centre of the earth to the other side, which the families perform a blood sacrifice simultaneously in to at both ends, using blood from the imortal Jack a 'fixed point in time'. The crack is as old as the planet but Torchwood don’t really understand or explain what it is. Jack offers some vague techno-babble suggestion involving Racnoss, but Gwen realises he’s just speculating and hasn’t really got a clue. Perhaps the crack could lead to the Ysgaroth universe? It’s hungry for blood, perhaps sentient in some fashion and has a power to reach out and change the biodata morphic fields of nearby humanity, including the power to make them functionally immortal.
