Anyone else seen Evil Renegade 6.8? Thoughts?

Personally, I thought it was... err. To be quite honest, when I watched it I was feeling braindead, so I'm not sure. It just sort of whooshed by me in a phase of silly orchestral music and naff, smug dialogue. Oh look, Alex Kingston slapping her thighs.

Look down there. Tell me. Would you really feel any pity if one of those dots stopped moving forever? If I offered you twenty thousand pounds for every dot that stopped, would you really, old man, tell me to keep my money, or would you calculate how many dots you could afford to spare? Free of income tax, old man. Free of income tax - the only way you can save money nowadays.

A bit of a mess tone-wise. Amy's previously unmentioned life-long best friend turns out to be her lost daughter, then tries to kill the Doctor, who spends most of the episode dying painfully, and it's all treated as a bit of a joke. And Amy kills a bunch of cops! River knows her name is Melody and has never heard of River despite the setup in the previous episode to explain that she gets the name River via translation warp from the whatsit left in her cot. And the antibodies' catchphrases were almost as annoying as "hey! who turned out the lights?"

That was impressively, intensely stupid. I know they're trying to lead up to this huge story-arc-finale how-will-they-get-out-of-this-one with the ER's death, but there is no tension or drama, because they will just cheat. The resolution will just make you groan and shake your head and yell "screw you Moffat", just like they just cheated to explain why River didn't regenerate in "Silence in the Library" if she's a child of the Timeship. If there was a chance that the ER was actually going to properly die, that might be interesting, but sadly no.

Also, River Song, Amelia Pond, and the eleventh ER are all totally annoying, unsympathetic characters who just mug and show off and act like smug twits until I want to hit them with a brick in the face. There's nothing in them interesting or worthy of compassion and I can't wait until they all sod off and die. (Is this how normal people felt about Donna Noble?)
